Franz,
I am root on the master server. I never had this problem before. It did not require a root password.
Here is something interesting I found out. Initially, it did not allow me to change passwords at all, as root, until I executed a keylogin command. Now, it allows me to change passwords...
I just upgraded to Solaris 9, and have NIS+ running on the system.
I find that when I try to change the password on user accounts:
passwd -r nisplus guest
it now prompts me for the root password.
Does anyone have any idea why it wants roots password?
I just upgraded our NIS+ root master server from Solaris 8 to Solaris 9. All patches are current as of Aug 22nd.
Now , when using the following syntax
passwd -r nisplus [username]
I get the message : passwd: User unknown: [username]
The user is shown as existing ,when I do ;
niscat...
I normally download the recommended patches once a month and install them on my system. I find that as the cluster becomes bigger, it give a "not enough space in /var to install" message and does not install, unless I remove files and makes space, but when the installtion is complete...
Jamisar,
Please ignore the previous message. I found the other file I need to edit to take that option away. The file can be found /usr and in the home directories, and it's name is sys.dtwmrc. In this file, the "Lock Display" option needs to be commented out.
Thanks again. You have...
Jamisar,
I did all that, and I now know that it disables the lock icon on the fool bar at the bottom. However, the Lock Display" option is still available when you right-click on the desktop, and it still locks the screen. Do you know what needs to be done to disable this?
Thanks a lot,
I...
Hi,
Does anyone know exactly how the floppy access is done with regards to volcheck. I have found that if floppys are manually ejected without issuing the 'eject floppy' command, that the floppy names remain in the /floppy directory, and after many occurences of this, the floppy drive becomes...
Jamisar,
Yes, I tried login out and back in again, and the option was still available.
I am not sure that I understand this part :
.* == every repetition of every chars
aaa bbb
and
aaa bbb
will be match by (in vi,sed + so on) s/aaa.*bbb/qqqTTT/g
Kris.
jamisar,
I tried that. I found two files name dtwm.fp in /usr/dt/appconfig/types/C and /usr/dt/appconfig/types/en_US.UTF-8
In these files, I could not find
PUSH.*LockDisplay
but I found a
PUSH_ACTION LockDisplay.
I commented these out and put in
PUSH_ACTION f.refresh
The system still...

I have autoloader which I use for backups. Is there any way in which to unload one tape and upload the next tape programatically, instead of doing it manually?
I do the backups through a cron job, but I still have to come in the next day to upload the next tape.
Any help will be greately...

I added quotas to a filesystem that already has users on it. I find that quotas get turned on for new users I create but not for the old users. What do I need to do to make sure that the old users also adhere to the quota system?
Thanks.
