    NIC nailed to 10m

Hi all, I am trying to nail a UltraAx-i2 box to 10m h/duplex. I have managed to do this but I would like to clarify something. Is the order in which I set the network variables important? I have tried setting these with autoneg set 1st which seems to ignore the rest of the settings and...

ok a strange one for you all, I have a v880 running Veritas volumes. when I boot the server the system is fine and everything looks good. As soon as any load goes onto u01 volume the i/o wait on the server goes through the roof and stays there. mpstat shows cpus idle with 98% wait time...

    Adding CPUs to V880

Hello all, we are currently running a live Sun Fire V880 with 4 750 MHz processors. We have another V880 with 6 750 MHz cpus which we would like to steal 2 cpus from for the live box. Is this possible to swap over cpus or will I run into licensing/hardware problems? any thoughts? thanks K

    TEST SCSI SPEED

Hi, our backups have started to run like a three legged dog and we are pretty much at a loss as to whats happened. We usually get up to 17g/hr through our L9 running Veritas Netbackup backing up an Oracle 9i database. The L9 is attached directly to the v880 server through scsi. Overnight...

    devfsadm on live system

Franz, If I run a format on a v880 system, the command will hang for a number of minutes and returns all internal disks and only 2 of the 22 disks in the a5200. The a5200 disks report <drive not available: formatting>. I suspect that one of the disks on the a5200 has reached capacity and...

    devfsadm on live system

Hi, I have had an a5200 disk go offline for some reason. I would like to perform a devfsadm -Cv to clean up the hanging logical links. This is a live mission critical box and I'm in the nasty stuff if it goes wrong. Can I perform a devfsadm -Cv on a live box? Whats the consensus? thanks K
