Hi,
I had the same problem with the constant flickering, and I must say that the Microsoft solution worked for me. I had to install the 810565 critical update first, but after that and adding the reg key it worked fine. See article 6526 at www.jsiinc.com for a detailed description.
Good luck!
Thanks for the reply,
No, the groups are newly created, without any deny on one of them. The problem starts already at more that 40 group memberships, and that's very low.
Using NTLM is not really an option. For security reasons, Kerberos must be used (not my call).
I opened a call at...
Hi,
I will describe my problem:
-I make a new user on the (W2K) server, and place it in the domain admins group for example. The user is now member of 2 group: domain users and domain admins. If the user logs on on a pc (XP) in the domain, he is also local admin on that machine.
-I make...
Hi,
When I open word, track changes is enabled by default. I want to unmark 'Use balloons in Print and Web Layout' for all users. It seems there is no policy for this on the server.
Does anyone know how to do this?
Thanks,

Hi,
I have a problem with a service account that was used by someone on the network to log on to his local machine. Now the password of that account has changed, and the account keeps locking out (every minute). this is because someone is still logged on with this account and the old...
Hi,
Maybe this is not really an exchange question, but I figured you guys would know more about this.
In outlook, I receive a HTML mail with URL that he tries to open right away. Sadly, people don't have internet access and they get as many pop ups as there are URL's in the mail asking them...
Thanks you all for the feedback.
I can indeed adjust the policy and say not to follow the my documents folder (users are indeed in AD), but it keeps popping up at the central network location (where the My Documents points to). Shouldn't be so; I will look further into this.
I tried...
Hi,
I am searching for a way to remove the "My Pictures" from "My Documents". "My Documents" is redirected to a central network share, and is the same for all users (so 1 big repository of documents). I don't want "My pictures" in that central location...
It's not a problem, it's just XP protecting users against themselves. Why should a normal user be able to view these files? If they remove ntldr for example, windows will simply not start up, so I think it's an improvement to hide these sensitive system files.
Search is able to display these...
Hi Ylan,
These are protected operating system files, and won't show up in a search, even if you include searching hidden files.
To see them, disable the 'hide protected operating system files' in windows explorer\tools\folder options\view

Solved. I tought it was a DNS problem all the time, but they the settings on the DHCP server appeared to be correct. But now I've seen that the client is getting his settings from a non-authorized NT4 DHCP server.
Just to let you know that everything works fine now

Hi,
When I add an XP machine to a 2000 domain, reboot the machine and then change the 'logon to' field from the computer name to the domain name, XP gives me the 'Please wait while the domain list is created' notification. This can last 5 minutes! I've seen this before, but never this long...
After a long mailing with microsoft, the problem is 'solved'. Actually, they've given me a workaround by placing the dfs link where the start menu resides in the list of local intranet sites. This way I don't get the notification. Microsoft told me that it would be fixed in the next service...
Thanks for the feedback.
I don't really understand what you mean with the ACTION NEW TASKPAD command. If I am in the new window, I do not have such an option. If you would be so kind to email your procedure to geertkoch@yahoo.com, I'll try to follow that.
Thanks again,
G
