Is there a way in which you can use tar command to archive a range of files?
I would want to archive all directories except those starting with c*. i.e achive files from a to b and d to z.
how best can this be done?
your contribution helped a lot. i inserted the following line in my .profile
stty susp 'F3'
the application is no longer accepting the letter F and not the function F3 that i wanted to disable.
sorry for the late response my internet link was down
unfortunately i am running an old version of tetra cs3. the changes cannot be done on the application side. someone was suggesting that this can be accomplihed by changing the .profile file.
do the following
1. type in wall and the press Enter.
2. type in the message you want to prodcast and then press enter.
4. press Cntrl and D at the same time.

sorry my internet link was down. I managed to solve the problem by coping the whole directory and not individual files.
i am going to do some housekeeping from my working directory files so as to get the directory size small.

Thank you for the response PH. i am sory i was not specific the last time. what i would want to do is to divide my active partition without losing the data in it. i tried using divvy but unfortunately errors will come uo and the server will not boot. the following comes up after running divvy...
Thank you guys. It has worked. one more thing i wanted to add machines with IP Addresses ranging from 192.168.2.1 to 192.168.2.40. is there a quicker way of doing it raher than adding many entries into the script?

I recently got one of our divisions connected to our server running Unix Sco Version 5.0.5. For the client machine to access the server i have to type in
route add 192.168.2.10 193.0.0.3
this is working fine but i would want the command to be executed automatically each time i switchon...
