Is the file on a FAT32 partition? Coz if you transferred something off NTFS (with that R Studio NTFS app) onto a FAT32 partition (that unlike NTFS doesn't support unicode file names) part of the filename might be in Chinese or whatever other non-ANSI code (that probably isn't even visible to...- kLy

No idea how to fix this mess, but try this to see if you can get any extra info out of it: http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/freeware/ldmdump.shtml but it probably won't work since it goes via the LDM API anyways and scan operations failed using dmdiag. Worth a shot though. This kind of...- kLy
