    On the Linux server, do you have portmap, rpc.mountd & rpc.statd defined in /etc/hosts.allow? Ex. portmap: ibmtest

    Have you tried a cleaning tape on the power vault? Could be dirty heads. Have you tested a new, empty tape to see if you can make a backup?

    Setting kernel.shmmax

    After you run /sbin/sysctl.... what is the value in /proc/sys/kernel/shmmax? After rebooting, what is it? In the past, on other Linuxes, I usually just go to /proc/sys/kernel and: echo value > shmmax.

    HBA World Wide Name

    I needed to find HBA for a fibre channel adapter. First I used: lsdev -Cc adapter - to find adapter name, fcs0. Than I ran: lscfg -vl fcs0 I believe HBA is under Device Specific (Z8).
