No sorry what I meant was I have been given Windows Server 2003 that was purchased in the Staters and all I was wondering was is it any different to the software bought over here

Aftertaf Just going to stay with the 1 server. Using mirroring and also tape backup so should negate the need for a second server. Money is not always available to do the things you want kevsel

Hi W3 have a Windows 2003 server setup as a DHCP, DNS and WINS server. Every now and then certain machines (Windows XP Pro SP2) have problems logging on and have to reboot to work Any ideas Thanks kevsel

Serbtastic Thanks for your prompt response, I have gone to all the PC's and added the IP address of the Wins Server but is there anything I have to do on the Wins Server to add the old netbios names also do all ip addresses have to be static, at the moment they are all DHCP assigned

Hi, I was having problems with a really slow network involving word, I have now resolved this issue by removing all traces of Netbios. The problem now is that I have to replace this with a Wins Server. This I have installed but do not know how to set it up, can anyone help please. Kevsel

Sorry for appearing a bit thick, what do you mean NIC properties (I know what NIC is) I mean what properties also the slowness is not necessarily shares but word documents on the server
