Had a similar problem with a Toshiba recently.
It would work fine with an external monitor via VGA cable, but nothing on the laptop screen.
What I did was to remove the graphics driver completely & reboot. I then got the laptop screen working, all be it with a standard driver. I then downloaded...
As above, a clean install is probably required, but I would suggest that you create a bootable CD or USB drive with Linux (Ubuntu) & recover any personal data first. Windows 7 would work better than Vista.
I have had a few drives go this way, but it can be very difficult to get the data back. I don't think that a piece of software will really help in this case, but is always worth a try. I would personally boot with a live Linux CD (Ubuntu or similar) to see if that can read the drive. Often...
I have a panel user on this Mac G4 that needs access to run MS Office for Mac, but I cannot get it to work. I am told that the user does not have enough access privileges. I have turned on sharing on the folder & given the user read/write access, but this has made no difference. I used to have...
SYQUEST you are a star.
Changing the computer name in the file sharing was exactly what I wanted. It would have taken me ages to find that. Not exactly the obvious place.
Anyway, thank you once again.
I am able to rename the machine as it appears on the network, but I would like to change the actual name of the machine.
I am using Citrix & for some reason this is not picking up the network name, just the name that it was registered with.
Probably a very simple solution to this, but I haven't found it yet.
Do not use MAC's that much, but how can I rename a MAC that is running OS9.2
Thanks
Not as far as I know. It is actually treated the same as any USB external memory within Windows & is always mounted, even without any actual card inserted. If you had been using Linux the drive would only be mounted when a card is inserted. Therefore the card can be un-mounted & not the reader...
It sounds like you are actually unmounting the card reader itself, so you would need to unplug & replug it to get it working again.
Just try unplugging the card instead of using safely remove hardware. Just make sure that it is not being written to at the time.
It would only need to happen when that particular row has been finnished & a tick ends up in the last cell of the row. The time could vary from a few days to a few weeks.
If it is going to be too complicated I don't think it will be worth it. The row is marked as finished, but I just thought it...
