    Spanning Tree question.... STP

I'm about to hook up a stonegate firewall up to a 3550 switch. I want to hook up redundant links (2 links, same subnet). Will spanning tree block one of the ports even if it the links go to a 3rd party device? Or is STP used only between Cisco devices?

    Simple QOS configuration help

I'm trying to simply allow all traffic to a specific destination have precedence over all other traffic on a Cisco 7200 router. I have never used QOS and quit frankly find a lot of the material on the web overwhelming. What would be the simplest way I could implement a policy map to make this...

    stopping telnet (CCNA exam)

I had a question on the CCNA exam (640-801) that asked me to disable all telnet access using only 3 lines. I tried blocking access through the line vty 0 4 but when I entered access-class 10 in it said that it didn't support that version. So that obviously won't work. Does anyone have...

    ISL TRUNKING/BANDWIDTH UTILIZATION

Can someone explain how ISL trunking utilizes bandwidth? For example, if I'm only trunking 2 vlans, will ISL trunking give out equal amounts of bandwidth to each vlan? Or does it operate as a first come first serve type basis? Can I allocate, let say, 75% of the trunk for VLAN 1 and the other...

    spanning tree

Thanks, on the same note, is there a way that I can specify how long it takes for spanning tree to bring up the back up link? The Gigabit might bounce time to time (due to rain/fog/wind/whatever) and I don't really want the 100baseT to come up unless the gigabit is down for a couple of seconds...

    spanning tree

I am currently using 2 gigabit lasers to connect to a switch across the street. Right now they are running in gigachannel and everything is fine. We just set up a floor in another building on the other side of us so we are going to split the two gigabit lasers and add a 100baseT laser for each...

    3500XL - Set ports globally?

Nope, unfortunatly you can't. The only other option is to you the http gui. It slow and cumbersome, but it works.

    OC3 and a 7200

I am going to upgrade one of my field sites from 3 T1s to an OC3. My question is a rather large and general question. What type of software would I need to use, HDLC, PPP, Frame Relay, ATM, yada yada yada. I am currently using Frame Relay everywhere else and would like to stay with it. Also...
