Deweyhumbolt makes a good point. In CA, if you don't have a license, a customer can wait for you to finish a job and then refuse to pay. If you then try to file any kind of action to collect, the courts will tell you "too bad, you get nothing". Depending on the amount, you can also be fined...
Hsitech,
I understand that you have installation experience in coax so I assume that you have some experience installing twisted pair. If not you may still want to check out the sources I mentioned. From my experience, there is a big difference in the requirements for installing the two types...
Callogic. As I remember from my C10 studies, the experience requirment is for the actual construction and installation aspect of the business. It concerns conduit size and fill ratio, attaching components to the building, faceplate height, etc. At that time, there was credit given for formal...
Deweyhumbolt,
I just found this link. It does not look like there is reciprocity for C7. There is for C10.
Like you, I got my C10 license in 92. I bought a study guide for the C10 and had to correct a few things in it. Luckily, the questions were pretty basic and my degree in electronics...
Crooter,
I just found this thread and thouht I would put my two cents in.
I left CA three years ago after operating a communications business there for 14 years. I had a C10 license for electrical, although I did very little electrical. I got the C10 because, in bidding on contracts, I found...
Its fixed!
After scouring the globe for a ISA video card, I could finally see what was going on.
The first bank of memory was bad. The processor would not even go into POST. No video was available until the memory was removed. When the second bank of memory was moved to the first slot, the...
salo0920, I haven't opened a NAM before. What type of chips are they using? It would be nice to have some spares on hand when I go there.
sprucegrover, I didn't see any status light on the floppy (not flashing). Do you have a document of what the beeps are indicating? If I had that info, I...
I have to agree with Belltek. I have been guilty of saying thank you at the end of my initial post, but, as stated, it is to show appreciation of anyone taking the time to respond to the request. I do, however try to thank each individual who responds. As for the stars, it is just an...
That makes sense. The beeps come so quickly after power up that there isn't time for post.
I did not put a monitor on the unit to watch what was going on. I may do that just out of curiosity.
Thanks for the input.

Help!
I got an urgent call from an associate who just started working at a new job five weeks ago. He said that their voicemail stopped working. After trying to decipher the problem over the phone, I drove 75 miles to have a look.
The system is a MICS 6.0 with a NAM 2 4.1 Rel. 8, Fiber...
The Ideal unit is the former Wavetek. I have both the Wavetek Pro XL for CAT 5 and the 8155 for CAT5E. Lots of good features including the ability to test fiber with their add-on kit.
How far apart are the endpoints? I did something similar with two SDSL routers with built-in switches. I was connecting two buildings together with about 750 feet of CAT 5.
Not yet. I don't have access to the software backup in the event of a failure. I have to coordinate the shutdown with the person who does so that he can reload by remote as necessary. My next step is to get that from him for my own piece of mind.
Thanks for the reply.
Since my original post, there have been other intermittent problems that do not repeat. I think that there is something about to fail, but the only thing the failures have in common is the processor.
All I can do is wait.
Karl
I have a DBS 576 system installed that seems to be having some strange problems.
1. Extension 4222 display shows 4230 at all times. Calls to 4222 go to the proper location. 4222 also hears both sides of conversations from 4205 and 4205 can hear 4222. This does not happen continuosly. The...
