I have a client who was running Lavasoft adaware and norton antiviurs at the same time and then tried to stop it by shutting down the pc. upon reboot they get a BSOD with a REGISTRY_ERROR and a stop error code of 0x00000051. I have found nothing on Technet in reference to this stop error...

a fatal eception error pretains to a memory problem. I ahve seen this once before when the hardrive is crashing, do a diagnostics on the hardrive as well as test the memory.
i would definately make sure you have a back up of needed data before you do anything else.

I have heard probloem with XP HOME authenticating to a domain, i havent actually tried. What i sugges is check the ip address ont he machines make sure they are the correct format. then remove the xp home from the domain then re ad it using the NT administrator domain account...
do a search for BOOT.INI and you can delete the entry from that file with the second selection of windows xp.
