hello Zeladakh
I do get a login dialog
but i'm assuming that communication is not encrypted and is just protected by the password?
In any case, how safe can it be when all i read is about ways to secure OWA?
hello
i am new to OWA configs. I just found out that with no config at all, i am able to use OWA from home to access my office mail/exchange. It was a bit of a surprise since nowhere have i read that OWA is ready to go after an exchange installation. Ofocurse, what concerns me is the security...
krenkey
i really appreciate your help
but i do not know my office pc's outside ip address
remember the lan is behind a NAT router
how do i obtain the outside ip???
Krenkey
i'm sorry but i still don't see it. If i am at home
and say my work pc has the internal IP 192.168.100.1
you are saying that i can type this into the dialog (at my home computer) and this communication will go out on the net and find that pc?
i with nat, i don't really know my internal...
i have to agree with krenkey - how much risk one takes depends on the situation
but krenkey, i still don't understand the private ip address
routing
please explain
krenkey
i read your article. question: from home if i type in my work pc private ip how will it be found out on the net - i thought those were not routable etc etc??
thx
but say my office pc's name is "workpc"
then what the ms article says is that from home, i would first type "workpc" in the remote desktop popup, the i would issue my user id/password/domain in the windows logon dialog. I want to know how the "workpc" machine is located
i would think i...
thx for your reply itaviator
i'm not seeing the need for terminal services if RD is available. For example, most of these users will be investment guys who need to access their market services apps from home. so if with RD they can access their office pc (desktop) what would terminal services...
hello
i was just reading an MS article on how to config RD
it said that all i need to do is launch RD from my home pc, give my work pc's name in the "remote desktop connection" popup then my user/passowrd/domain info on the login to windows popup.
Now, my question is how does the authentication...
thx to both for the info
i haven't looked at the links yet
but, is access to the user's desktop enabled by terminal services or is it a matter of directly connecting to the user's pc like "radmin" does it?
I believe what the users want is to be able to work from home just as if they were sitting...
thanks krenkey
i am not familiar with terminal services
they will be using their high speed connections from home.
now, what do you mean by "terminal services account"
and, is the "remote desktop" the piece that accesses the terminal server?
thx
