    Two Jobs on 1 Tape

    I have a HP autoloader so it may be a little different, but what I do to make sure multiple jobs don't go to another tape besides a media set, is to define a partition for each job. Then point both jobs to that partition.

    Anyone want to enlighten me on the DRS strategy their using w/ VMware? I've got consolidated backup, but no single document on really setting it up. I have found some documents of a module for backup exec but it's pretty much some command lines with no description of what to do. anyone?

    Backup different VMware Server

    So I've pretty much been trying to do this since we got ESX setup and I've done a couple things. As of right now, the ESX server has a Backup Exec Client running on it and backing up the root w/ everything in it...now I don't think this is a DR solution for the VM's are still on and changing...

    Found a solution: In the properties of GWIA 6.5.1 we changed the SMTP/MIME - Message Formatting - Outbound settings - from Basic RFC-822 to MIME and it seams to be working.

    Note: Unlike the error suggests, this is a backup job not a restore. Unless the verify is the culprit in which everything is still successful.

    This job ends as failed but I have gone over the job log with out finding anything red, or any indication where something may have gone 'wrong'. The description doesn't help at all because everything got backed up, or at least shows all connections were successful...

    Are there multiple networks being used? I know for ours I specify the server under User-Defined where I specify the backup network and select from there. Are you relying on Microsoft Network names?

    Another option, I know w/ our HP autoloader, is that the software (BE) puts a lock on the library during jobs. Sometimes I will have to go into Backup Exec and 'Unlock' the library via Device tab. (Find the library, right-click, Unlock)

    Duplicating a backup tape?

    I think the best solution in your case would be to do an original back up to disk, then use two jobs to write to the two tapes. Weather or not you have 450 Gb available to dedicate is another question. But with one drive I don't see a 'faster' performance gain doing the same job twice.
