First, we are a little late doing this, I know. We are going to get a new W2k server and want to move our PDC information from the old NT 4 to this new W2k to become our DC. Also, our old NT 4 is our Exchange 5.5 server and we want to move all the e-mail users and e-mails to this new server...

We have our workstations, servers setup with our internal UNIX server as the first DNS server and our ISP's external DNS server as our second DNS server within Microsoft DNS Server Search Order. NSlookup will only search our internal server and does not try to resolve to our ISP server...

So, the best thing to do is to setup the W2k server as a DC and configure the NT4 servers for the W2k domain? What about the login script.. Can you setup an NT4 domain to share a drive on the W2k server? Thanks, Vince

Well, we want to go on and set this one up with Windows 2000. We bought license upgrades for our current NT 4.0 and it's BDCs. I figure we could set it up as a stand alone 2K Server, then change it to a BDC after we upgrade the NT 4.0. I appreciate the quick answer though. THANKS ALOT...

We are running NT 4.0 and want to setup W2k server as a Disaster Recovery for our domain. Can it be setup as a BDC? Any ideas as to whether we should do this or set it up another way to perform as a Disaster Recovery system? Thanks, Vince

What type of scan are you running? If you are running Heuristic or secure, try running a fast scan instead. Thanks, Vince

Is your Arcserve Manager on a different server? If so, you may need to install the client Agent on your Exchange Server as well. Thanks, Vince

I have since quit using the brick level backup. I have tried different installs and patch sequences. None seem to work. I tried to work with CAI to correct it, but it did not work. Thanks, Vince

Are you saying disable it from the backup job, from the Exchange Server, from the ARCSERVE Server, two of the three, or ALL three? Thanks, Vince

I went ahead and verified that I didn't have any mailboxes with the same first three letters. Good to go. Yes. I have InoculateIT running on a server and I am using it on the Exchange Server. I am using version 4.53. I checked the thread and you're right. I forgot to post that. Thanks...

OK. It didn't work. Same e8602 as always. I put the qo06202 patch that was originally suggested. Once I do that, I get a security error in the backup tree when I try to access the Exchange Brick Level. I tried accessing it through the Agent tree and the actual domain. It says invalid user...
