The count=1234 can be left out, and if I slip a little bzip into the equation we can compress the backup. This makes the backup take a lot longer on the DDS4 tapes, but it uses less of them (which is always a bonus).
Here's a little script snippet:
#!/bin/bash
TAPE_DRIVES=(`ls /dev/rmt | grep...
Thanks Franz,
I've been trying to find a solution to this without using Netbackup/etc for nearly 5 years, so I think it's time for me to give up and buy some software.
Thanks for your help,
Greg

Hi!
I'm trying to configure windoze dhcp clients from a Solaris DHCP server. I can get all other options to the client: NETbios/WINS/DNS/IP_ADD/Gateway/,etc
But I can't set the hostname.
Does andyone know how to set REQUEST_HOSTNAME on a windows 98 machine???
TIA
Greg
You might want to think about editing your /etc/syslog.conf file so that you can administer your logfiles a little tidier.
Most hackers enjoy the fact that the /var filesystem is full as no more log messages can be written, you may want to look at your passwords and give them an early rotation.
Interesting, I've never seen this before.
It's only a bad idea if you paid loads for it.
Have you tried resetting your nvram??
or maybe just restore the OBP defaults:-
ok> set defaults
What I'd do next is take it to work and wait for a big fault on a sun server and get the Sun Engineer to...
Guys, if you can buy a piece of kit like that for just 900 GBP then why bother moaning. One thing you have to ask yourselves is: Has Sun messed me about in the past? If the answer is no, then leave it well alone and go to www.sunsolve.sun.com to find the fix (and this is there).

But I will keep a tab on it and see if it happends again on the same phone.
Thanks for the info's.
Just curious but what would cause a line not to disconnect.
One of my user finished his phone call and hung up but it would not hang up. The light still flash saying the he is still on the phone. I tried releasing and all the stuff that I can thing of to disconnect the call but it would not so...
