    try contacting HP and seeing if they have an updated driver, or newer version of the software that came with your burner. Windrivers.com might point you in the right direction. they have alot of company home websites there.

    Assuming you have a disk in the drive, and you haven't been inside your computer lately, disk drives go bad. You need to replace it. sorry.

    I would have to agree with edfair. It sounds more like a hardware probablem. Try even putting a known good video card in and giving that a shot. Don't know about the memory. I have heard that memory pins can corrode. maybe pull the memory out and put it back in. cleans the pins

    only plug your monitor in long enough to start the installation. unplug monitor imediately upon saying ok or yes to anything.

    I have had something similar to this happen to me. I couldn't get my resolution, or my colors to change. I called tech support and this is what they had me do. Uninstall the monitor and the video drivers. When 98 detects your monitor and video card unplug the monitor. 98 should put in place...

    why don't you try using the Pcrestore command on the original win98 disk. Should fix your problems and restore your 98 system back to original operation without harming your programs CD: \tools\sysrec\pcrestore
