I have found the answer to my question. If a default instance exsists on the computer then sql server 05 is installed as a named instance. http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143219.aspx

Is it possible to install sql server 05 on the same machine as a 2000 instance without using named instances? It seems to work fine when I use a named instance, but otherwise it seems to assume that I just want to upgrade the 2K instance.

The report is running on oracle 9.i and is written using crystal v.9. It contains a subreport which runs off a view, and the main report runs off a view. Has anyone seen this error before?

I have the same report running on 2 different computers. The font has been set in the report to times new roman (western) size 8. On one pc the report prints at size 8, however on another pc the report prints with larger font (maybe size 10). Does anyone know how to fix this?

I am designing and running the report in the RDC. I have managed to get a fairly good export by using the gridlines to ensure all my fields are the same size as their heading, and are perfectly aligned horizontally with their heading.

Using the command line on the server, just typed in lpr -p printername -s servername ... with the relevant names in place of printer and server name of course.

I thought the error may have been caused by the default file name being too long - so I specified a name of report.doc, it didn't make a difference.

I am putting a .doc extension on it. It must be something to do with either outlook express or maybe windows 97, as colleges with windows 2000 don't have any problems opening the file.
