thanks PH, it did help. And thanks for making me work it out myself (to some extent) :) Do While Not rst.EOF output = output & ", " & rst.Fields(0).Value rst.MoveNext Loop Almost painfully simple. Thanks again. Jord

how to output multiple records returned in VBA query

I'm using a function to populate a column in a query. I essentially need to take all the records from one table that match the primary key in another and populate the query's column with them. This is what I have: strsql = "big SELECT query returning three fields" dim rst as ADODB.Recordset...

    incrementing a reference number

Thanks for the help. I've resorted to setting the number on creation of a record and actually storing it in the table. Not elegant and a little wasteful but it's the simplest solution. On creation (and update of related fields) I now just recreate the first three digits from the selected...

    incrementing a reference number

I see where you're coming from, but I keep getting an Error 3014: cannot open any more tables. The problem (I think) is that 'table1' in your function is actually a query, not a table, and it's the query that I'm builing as the function's running. If you know what I mean.

    incrementing a reference number

I have a query that picks id fields from three tables (named 'scope', 'categories' and 'title') and creates a ref number from them (the numbers represent system ids, and they're not primary keys or autogenerated numbers). The query in question uses a simple module to build the three numbers...

Qdef to Excel export with manipulation

Thanks a lot. It's actually only a couple of fields that contain the offending hyphens, so it may be a solution. It seems to work fine, brilliant. Thanks again. Jordan

Qdef to Excel export with manipulation

lupins46: Thanks for the reply. I agree that a global F&R in Excel would be the best thing to do. I suspect my client will moan about the extra level of interaction though. How can I incorporate the If statement into the SQL query? Can it just go in as you've posted it? Thanks again, Jordan

Qdef to Excel export with manipulation

Hi, I have a sub that exports a set of records to an excel spreadsheet, however some of the records contain just "-" as their value. In all of these cases I want to replace the "-" with a Null value, NOT in the actual database, but just the values exported to excel. Does anyone know how to do...

Text quality in exported PNGs (AutoCAD 2002)

Just to say that using PDF995 has worked a treat, perfect results. Many thanks borgunit, much appreciated.

Text quality in exported PNGs (AutoCAD 2002)

Thanks very much for the help guys. Unfortunately, the DWF option is a no-starter, but if I can get a high resolution PDF exported I'd be bery happy. I'll try the PDF995 program (which I was previously unaware of) and see if that helps. Thanks again, Jordan

Text quality in exported PNGs (AutoCAD 2002)

Hi, I have to export a drawing to PNG (or JPG) for a client but everytime I do my text/annotations seem to get mangled and sketchy -- like it's been rasterised at a low resolution (and consequently, it's unreadable in places). I've been using the 'publish to web' feature and selecting 'extra...

word 2000 : custom page numbering

Following on from some outline numering problems I had yesterday ... Does anyone know any way of inserting page numbers prefixed with the chapter number if the chapter does not begin with Heading 1 -- Heading 9 style. I have a new section, and thus a new chapter, beginning with the style...

Troubleshooting with Outline numbering in MyStyle

Many thanks for your offer of help Anne, but as always seems to be the way with word, an idle threat of being thrown out the window seems to have sorted it out. It now works fine with no change of method or application. Sometimes I think it does it on purpose -- some evil subroutine --...

Troubleshooting with Outline numbering in MyStyle

i read that, no help I'm afraid. It's got to the point now where I can get HEADING C subheading C.1 in peculiar formats, but as soon as I change the indentation etc for the subheading style it reverts to A.2 and I'm just about ready to pick my computer up and throw it at someone. Jordan

Troubleshooting with Outline numbering in MyStyle

I know I'm ressurecting a very old thread here but I'm having exactly the same problem as '2781' and I can't see anything on thewordexpert.com that helps. It seems as though word simply isn't recognising a level 1 heading, I have, HEADING A (paragraph style level 1) subheading A.1 (paragraph...
