    Firewire Compatibility

    Firewire PCI cards work fine in the beige G3s. Just turn off your computer, stick a firewire card in the slot, reboot, and you are good to go as apple has included the firewire drivers in OS8.6 and up. I have upgraded several G3's to firewire this way. See www.xlr8yourmac.com for more detail.

    CD-RW options for G3 Powermac?

    Yes, a cdrw burner can easily be substituted for the present cdrom in a G3, either the beige or B&W. I have done so myself with the sony 24x8x32 but many others will work fine. I believe Lite On is the fastest, cheapest and most popular at the moment. For detailed recommendations from others...
