when too many apps are running in the background, system resources are low this causes fonts to "disappear", even if they are installed eliminate unnecessary apps running in the background (i.e. realplayer and quicktime) and hopefully you'll eliminate your "missing font" problem

Darren - Thanks for the suggestions... Using the clipboard got me thinking - besides the third-party clipboard apps mentioned in the link there are a few in the Win98 Resource Kit. "Cliptray.exe" works fine. Thanks again for your help.

the right hand pane in regedit no longer shows any detail any idea what happened? and how I can view the deatil again? -- the data is there - you just can't see it unless you right-click on the key and select 'modify'
