All is well now, he's more than 100miles from me so I had no choice but to talk him thru it, and it's cost him at least a days...
I think the guys learnt his lesson.
He cant use his system at all.
(just logs off in safe mode or standard, and restore doesnt work either)
What I need to know is if there is a way to load the registry off the drive thats been corrupted into regedit so that it can be repaired and then stored...

This has virtually every patch available and a lot of performance tweaks aswell, but I suggest that if you use it know what the patches are because it does a lot you might not require (as does windows update), ie: it...

The Intel chips have NO support for 32bit os's/apps but the AMD's will run 32bit os's/apps aswell as 64bit, if you don't want to invest in all new 64bit software then AMD is the better option.
I would suggest that you look at the sites for the respective manufacturers to help you decide...
Also just thought, how are you running Fdisk ?
If you are in Dos or 9x then you will need DOSMode drivers for your scsi card.

Well as I've had no replies, I thought I'd post the solution for anyone else with a similar problem.
The problem is with the S-Video to Scart adapter.
The details and a cable to sort the problem can be found here.
