Can Rexx do serial communications in Linux. I have poked around a little and have often read about doing it in windows.
I am looking to move from Bash to something more powerful but still keep some of the skill I have. Rexx looks really good so far.
Thanks,
John
Is there a low cost video card for the RS6000 B50?
Or do I not under stand the problem?
We are not intersted in X server. But would be helpful to have a KB/Monitor with multiple terminials opened up.
Thanks,
John G. Lynn
Bluegroper is correct. We use the USR 2977 or 2976 which is a hardware modem with Hylafax. Works "PERFECT 10" every time. It is a hardware PCI serial device. USR even has an rpm for installing the startup stuff if you dont want to do it your self.

First if you dont need it turn it off. (/etc/rc.d/rc?.d) We have hundreds of rh62 servers with no need of apmd to run, or http or gpm or xfs or the other load of stuff that is not needed but must be installed for who knows what reason.
The standard of "man apmd" will help you decide. If you...
SOLUTION, read man page 499 times, tested with
cu -d -l /dev/ttyS0. Lots of help from Google and a little luck and lots of tries.
#!/bin/bash
# this script is to return the modem type
# you could use it to dial just as easy
# atdt1234\r instead of ati7\r
{
# one char at at time
echo -en...
I need to script some way to query a modem and send the result to a log file.
I have tried cat and cu. I can not seem to get the debug into a log. Dont care which tool I use.
Thanks for the review.

Can anyone lead me to a good document on installing Postgresql on AIX 4.3? I have it running on Linux (RH9 & RH62), now need it on AIX.
Or, is there a binary that would directly install instead of the build process? So far I have to update Bison and readline.
When this is done I will also...
I wish to insert a print filter to capture the file that is printed so it may parsed and directed to a parallel application.
In linux my printcap line looks like this:
if=/var/spool/lpd/filter.sh
The filter looks like:
cat - | tee -a filename.$$
I have tried to put this in the printcap in...
The A/A is made by the company I work for. It uses Dialogic T1 card in an Intel based PC.
The connection uses T1 to connect to the MICS.
Thanks
John G. Lynn
I am trying to connecting an Auto Attendent to a Nortel MICS V6 software via T1.
Can I transfer from A/A (using wink or flash or ???) to an extension or group?
This seems to be a strange question on the MICS, we do use this feature on other systems, including Merdian.
Thanks for the help...
I would like to use the lpr print system to convert PostScript files to PDFs for every one in my office.
I do not seem to grasp how to use the printcap and a script to do the conversion (using ps2pdf) and save the PDF to another location.
Thanks for helping,
John G. Lynn

Thanks,
John G. Lynn
Stuart,
Today it is my job to do a very similar thing.
I have a need to install an internal modem into a B50 running 4.3.
Like you I have a Linux background. Also some SCO.
The first thing ( i think ) is to choose a modem wisely.
The USR 2977 is a PCI modem that is a hardware modem. No...
Hi,
It would seem that the loader does not really know where the "/" really is. Did you do an automated install or did you use Disk Druid ?
The first couple dozen installs you sould use the automatic install. You will get the hang of this.
