Hi,
It sounds like you have an IBM drive by the name of the diagnostic software - Drive Fitness Test. I have had weird problems off and on with them so...
First of all, check your drive geometry settings in your BIOS. I had that happen with my 18.0 Gig IBM. If the sector settings are...
Check the Adaptec site for the actual controller chip on your SCSI card. Your's maybe the AIC-7880 from what I can remember about the 2940x. Look on the big black chip and look for AIC-78xx, where the xx is the rest of the model number. Adaptec offers drivers for their cards not just by the AHA...
I have had a similar throughput problem after upgrading to an HP-Surestore 8000 (DLT8000) from an HP-Surestore 4000. Overall, the drive operates slower than the old one, and that seems to have thrown a curve in my backup time.
What kind of tape drive were you using prior to this one?
John
I agree with jjzhang... I have had none of the issues you have had with Trend ScanMail. ScanMail, in conjunction with ServerProtect provides an excellent barrier against incoming mail-borne virii. ScanMail, like all of Trend's products have very little impact on the system performance.
Just my...
Julie,
There is a possibility that your machine is infected so therefore it will not install the Norton. Some viruses actually block the installation of AV products, and kill them if they are already installed. You may want to try a remote scan of the system using Trend Micro's House Call or...
Suggy,
Check your bios settings to make sure that something didn't get lost. I had that problem with my system a year or so ago. I have an IBM 18Gig in an older system, and for some reason, the LBA settings got confused in my bios during a lock up. After I redetected drive I was able to see the...
Arkadas,
Here is something that might be useful
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/support/files/armada/us/download/8881.html
This is for the Toshiba Hard Drive lock problem that seems to cause problems for Compaq laptops.
Peter is right too, Compaq loves the proprietary bit with hardware, but they...
GuySmiley,
I just went through this recently on a Win2k system of my own. I was able to remount the RAID using Win2k Disk Management. The Striped set showed up as an unknown volume and I was able to select it and remount it.
See the Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 222189...
Hi,
To me it sounds like application is corrupted and it keeps failing. Do you know of any service or application that is scheduled to run on a monthly basis?
Check the usual places... Startup folder, registry in the runas service, run, etc.
Good luck,
John
Okay... Do you have WINS running or do you have WINS enabled?
Also - check your DNS settings and your sub-net mask settings if you are using static IPs.
Good luck,
John
It looks like the Essutil runs the built in defragger while the database is online. That is as far as I can tell. I am not an expert, by any means with Exchange; I just inherited the fine job of handling our Exchange server.
I know how you feel about messing with the Exchange database; let...
Hi,
I agree with Lawrence - sack the sob because he does not have the brains to work in an IT environment. %-(
Anyway...
If you can't login locally either try this utility:
NTFSBOOT.EXE
It builds a bootable disk that runs a bit of Linux, and allows one to boot up and change passwords from a...
Hi,
Diskeeper is correct in not being able to defragment those files since those files are in use by the Exchange Server.
Diskeeper has no way of knowing or seeing the actual data that belongs to the Exchange Server because Exchange is really a huge transactional/journaled database. The data...
