Hi All A friend of mine has a pc which someone has been messing around with. He can't get the 256 colour option back onto the screen, it is only allowing 16bit or 2 colours in the option list. Can anyone tell me how to get this back? Regards Jodi

thanks heaps smah, did not know that, have only dealt with win xp in a network environment where the little box comes up and gives you the option to log in as a user names. Regards Jodi

We have just created a user on a win xp local machine and then added a password to the administrator to increase the security on the machine. Upon logging out and logging back in it does not give us the access to log in as the administrator anymore, is there a way to reverse what we have done...

Where do I get proper DOS disks? I am not familiar with DOS that much. I have tried everything in this thread so far and though I get different results each time at the end of the day I still can't install windows. If anyone can provide any more ideas etc please let me know. Regards Jodi

I tried this, it looked like it was working, but I have discovered that it is still an issue. The user of the computer may not have spend as much time on the computer to see that the problem was still there, I am not sure. I wonder if anyone has any further suggestions? Regards Jodi

Tried that one, checked the directory to make sure it created the win98 directory and it was there, but it returned an error message of bad command or file name when I typed the next bit in. thanks for your help here I really do appreciate it!

does it matter what drive I am in when I type this, and once I have done this what do I do next?

ok, have unplugged burner and that has failed, have changed data cable from burner to cd and that has failed, not sure how to save windows files to hdd, dos language very very rusty! if someone can tell me how to do this probably step by step would be best I would really appreciate it. Regards...
