    Web survey

My company are keen to have online questionnaires on several of their websites feeding into databases. Having no experience of SQL and .asp, I am unsure what to advise them. I have been involved in developing websites for some years now, but surprisingly, never at this level. I understand there...

    Designing a brochure

Actually, I think by readers spread you mean set up like 1-12 as opposed to facing pages that go like this: 2-11 3-10 4-9 Am I right?

    Designing a brochure

Hello I've been asked to design a 12 page A4 brochure. The trouble is, how do I layout the pages? Should it be 1 - 12 2 - 11 3 - 10 This shouldn't be a problem, except I need to insert some plans that run over 2 pages (eg. 8 and 9), which of course wouldn't be on the same piece of paper. Does...

    Quark 5 save as 4

On my verison of Quark 5, when you go to "save as" you get a drop down menu at the bottom which asks you which version you would like to save it as. Click on 4. Its always worked for me, as my printers uses Quark 4.

    Manipulating a picture box

Hello, Any advice here would be greatly appreciated. I have a picture box in Quark 5, I want the top and sides of the box to be straight but the bottom to be curved. I know I could draw a picture box with the Bezier tool (but this is not one of my strengths). I have tried item > shape and...

    Image quality

Rickwells, Thank you for your reply. It makes sense now, I simply didn't know that images were stored separately (like a website). I have converted the files into EPS and inserted into Acrobat. This is much better. Thank you very much Jo

    Image quality

Hello. I am a new user of Quark (please excuse my dumbness). I imported Jpg and Tif files into my document and want to send this file over to the printers. All images are have a resolution of 600 and are quite big files (some up to 3MB). However, my final .qxd file is a mere 400KB. This can't be...

Why do images look so terrible in Flash?

I am assuming that this has been discussed before (could not find it though) so apologies if this is a common question. I tend to avoid importing photographic images into Flash, simply because they look so bad when the movie is published. But now I have a simple logo (gif) of two colours that...

    Being artistic with Quark

Thanks for your quick response. I have noticed a lot of users on here praising InDesign. Are you from the United States? Because I don't think InDesign is very big over here in the United Kingdom. All graphic design companies want employees with experience in Quark. Is it something that will...

    Being artistic with Quark

I am teaching myself Quark at the moment and am very surprised with its limitations. Having known for years, Quark is every graphic designer’s essential tool, I was expecting a drawing/page layout package. I think I was wrong on the "drawing" side of things. And am assuming that Quark...

Users without the Flash Plug In

Two queries here really. Firstly, does anyone know the statistics of how many web users have the Flash plug-in installed? I am tempted to create Flash buttons in my new website, but don't want to make it inaccessible to those without the plug-in. Which leads me onto my second question, is there...

    Please help a beginner

I am just starting Quark Xpress and as someone who has a web background (as opposed to print) am finding it hard to get to grips with. A very simple question, but I can not, for the life of me, work it out. Have created a shape with the Bezier tool, but how do you add colour to the inside? Am I...
