am i in the wrong section? only reason im posting here is b/c its related to GPolicies via AD :)
I'm following the bottom portion of this tech article regarding "Controlling block storage devices on USB buses"
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/winxppro/maintain/sp2otech.mspx
Its...
ok i figured this out, in one OU i disabled "configure auto updates" b/c of some reason i forget...so i added a new TEST OU with this policy enabled and i get all workstations poplulated in WSUS....thanks for the effort and stimulation to investigate this
all machines are in two seperate OU's and there are some subfolders under the two OU's but all GPO's governing these OU's point to the WSUS server correctly.
when i run clientdiag from a users box i get the following:
WSUS Client Diagnostics Tool
the part in BOLD was what looks incorrect and it was also in RED when reported by MS diag tool.
Checking Machine State
Checking for admin rights to run tool . . . . . . . . . PASS
Automatic...
I recently setup WSUS on one of my servers. If it go into network places i can see all 500+ workstations in the firm but if go into WSUS it only sees 104 computers.
Anyone see a reason why the other 400 would be missing?
thanks
you are missing one crucial step. Before you HIDE the mailbox ADD the mailbox to your account or login as the userID and give yourself rights to the mailbox. Once you have access go ahead and hide it from the GAL.
that was incorrect, the fix for this is as follows:
in AD, find the DL and right click it. go to exchange tasks and choose hide membership :) quite simple but quite hidden
In exchange 5.5 i was able to create a DL and hide the members in the list from the GAL. Anyway to do this in 2003? I cant seem to find the option like it was on 5.5
thanks
I'm in a bit of a delemma, there are way to many printers in my firm. I see some groups with ratio's of users to printer as 1:3
I am looking at the following for EOL:
Laserjet 4
Laserjet 5
Laserjet 8000
laserjet 8150
1)in your opinion what is the proper ratio for printer to users? My feeling...
I just started seeing this from a few users starting Monday...
I dont see any messages waiting in the QUEUE and when i telnet 25 to the mail gateway i get some numbers and *'s instead of something in english (does that count as a response?)
220...
on the ESM i have given myself "service account admin" and i still cant create public folders when i log off and on. Is there some sort of LAG on Exch5.5 ?
