Is there a program that will ID exactly what memory is installed in a system. I don't mean how many megabytes, I mean what type(DDR-SDRAM 2100/2700 etc.) also how many pins (184 etc.) I've tried; Belarc Advisor, Everest Home add., SiSoft sandra. They tell me the megabytes install but not what...

I've come across one thing. The new power supplies say there Pentium/Athlon XP ready. The CPU on the ECS board is an AMD Athlon. Would that make a difference? Thanks for your replies.

    Power Supply Issue

They both are standard 20 pin ATX connectors. One PS is a Rosewell 450 watt with dual cooling fans ver. 2.03 from Newegg. The other is a Xpower 550 watt with dual cooling fans ver. 2.03. The Rosewell is a fairly expensive PS but the Xpower is a cheaper one. Neither would work. I emailed ECS tech...

My wifes computer has a ECS K7SEM Socket A motherboard with a SIS 730S chipset. The power supply went bad a few weeks ago. I purchase two power supplies. Neither of them will work in her computer. I installed an old power supply that I repaired sometime ago and it works. All of the power...

    "Missing Operating System"

Thanks for the reply bcastner. I tried as you suggested-no joy. I got a message that said the file system was too badly damaged for repair-or words to that effect. I'll re-install so as I have some time. :(

    "Missing Operating System"

After re-sizing my partitions with PartitionMagic I'm getting the message "Missing Operating System" on reboot. I have Drive Image installed. I tried to re-install Win 2K pro from an image-same message. (The image install was successful). Any ideas on this one.

    spywareinfo.com

Hello carr and thanks for your reply. I'm concerned that I can no longer access the site and the good programs it contains. I've used several them over the last year or two. It also is a concern that the black hats can attach and succeed in taking down any site that offers help for computer...

best version of linux for a new user

I agree with caimoss, SuSE is rock solid and the install is a breeze. Unfortunately, you no longer can download the ISO. You can get a demo. that runs from your CD-ROM drive but that's it. You're still able to get many other distros here: http://www.linuxiso.org/index.php Or pick up a copy of...

I'm scanning a friends computer for virii with AVG. The scan has been running for an hour and it seems to be stuck on C\_restore\temp\AXXXXXXXX.CPY. The scan is moving forward but it seems like there's a zillion temp files in this folder. Does this sound right? Also what is the extension .CPY...
