From the sounds of it you have nothing resolving names to address's? if you type 'NSLOOKUP' AT A CMD LINE and type in a known name of a local machine, if your dns server is working you...
What in that cache file? i don't know anything about Sun but i'm still thinkin' that file is putzed somehow. Can you replace it? Can you read it? I know DNS needs the cache file to find the resolvers from, but how Sun does that...i leave to you It's possible your firewall is blocking the port...
HI Mjess, you'll never get the 1394 connection to go away and it won't matter anyway. Can you go into device manager and pick a driver for the nic? Geez i thought XP had darn near every driver ever made..Guess not..
Try uninstalling the card and reboot and let XP find it. Do you know what it is...
Yes they blocked the port, or put you on an exclusion list. The list is most likely, did this happen after that last round of welchia? It's happened to us..

Look in \winnt\system32\dns and you'll see a cache.dns file. open it with notepad and see whats on it. it'll tell you how to update it too. It should have all the high-end reslovers listed ( the ones for the internet). There is a backup...
Your OK you just didn't click enough. Try opening the forward zone, then double click on the zone you want to open ( it must expand out in the right pane) now you'll have that option.

Hey Azitman: First are these NT 4.0 servers? Are we in a single domain? Try adding a pointer record to server2. If it's not in dns or if it's in it's own domain, no one will be able to see it. But i'll bet you can map to it?
We use Compaq tapes and there was a point in the veritas install that you should have said "use existing drivers". We use compaq servers and they need the OEM drivers to run right.Veritas should have giving you the option of which drivers to use. I don't know who to change them once...
