tar command - destructive error
I have since decided that the problem is not in the tar command, but in the implementation of NFS in OSX. The tar command would be a process running only on the SGI IRIX machine. The only connection to OSX would be through the NFS mount point.- jgsmall

I was recently tasked with backing up data from an Xserve to a NAS device on Linux. I chose an IRIX host to perform the task because it was used in a very limited fashion and would not be missed.
