    Sony SDX-400C I/O Error

My guess is that you are experiencing some minor issues related to you SCSI bus! The LED's usually give a pointer to what the drive is actually doing and I wouldn't be surprised if the 'waiting for reset' can be translated directly to you blinking code! I/O errors could be an indicator that...

    DDS3 cant hold enough data?????

The DDS-3 format supports 12GB native and 24GB compressed capacities. The 24GB is no guarantee though! If you try sticking 10GB of already compressed data on a tape you might end up with 11 or 12GB actual data, as the pre-compressed data can 'grow' when subject to an attempt to compress it over...

    DAT won't work....

How is this connected - through a Narrow or a Wide cable? When you mix these two SCSI types, it does have a tend to go haywire and send you to SCSI hell.. Termination on the two types is different - Narrow requires 8 bit termination and wide requires 16 bit active termination. If you...

    Backups are painfully slow

Read the below input in a previous thread regarding the same issue: When utilizing a Dell server (though I imagine this can be replicated with other servers) with a Dell PowerVault 128T tape changer through an Adaptec 39160 card, you may notice tremendously slow data through-put of within...

veritas error (with sony backup driver)

You shouldn't have anymore problem restoring (rather than the normal...what backup tape?). Not sure why it's not listed anywhere - maybe cause it shouldn't be possible to change the block size on a Sony IDE drive.........

    BE 9.0 on W2k3 - Autoloader issues

Is the Autoloader a Multiple LUN device? If it is, you need to enable multiple LUN support for that specific SCSI ID on your SCSI controller! Without it - you will experience problems communicating with the changer over a single SCSI ID!

    installing veritas9 on W2k3 DC

I have seen a similar rollback after trying to install on a fileserver (only access is through Terminal services) - however, I resolved my "issues" by consulting the install log. If the error is indicating problems with a third party product - it is probably the Java client that's...

veritas error (with sony backup driver)

Own research - The SDX-420 IS an IDE device - Veritas will probably see this drive incorrectly and assume an incorrect default value for the drive. Try and right click the drive - select properties and open device configuration - my bet is, that the block- and buffersize are set to 1kb. Being an...
