I am getting the above error messages when trying to send alert messages using microsoft exchange. I have checked the service account and the system account and these are both the same. I have tried to restart the services but this has not helped either.
I have also looked at the CA web site...
Thanks for the URL's i have read through them and checked all the things but have still not had any joy. what is confusing me is that when i try and a send a test message it is sent, correctly. But the Alerts through Arcserve aren't.

I am having real problems with one of my backup's and really need help. I originally had a server which was using two tapes to backup. (DAT tapes in a HP 1533C drive.) Suddenly the job started to run onto three tapes but was not using all the data space on the second tape.
To solve this...
I have found that when i run a job during the day, when users are on the network the job can take as little as four hours then when i run the job through the evening, the backup is taking 11 hours.
I really don't understand why this is.
There are a few open files but not a great amount. There is anti virus software running, this is SOPHOS. I have tried stopping the AV services and this has not seemed to make a difference. In fact I have looked at the job and the situation has got worse, the backup is now taking over 30hrs...
