Can ping network connections but cannot access internet
peanutsmm IS the solution! same story, single win98se machine via a modem: connects to the ISP, gets an IP, DNS details filled, OK to ping out but no joy on the Internet, even using IPs, no telnetting on port 25 either; followed peanutsmm's way and restored! Symptom occurred out of the blue...
