Fill or swatch that makes layers underneath transparent?

The best way to do this would be to set up a mask in Flash (assuming that's what you are going to use for the animation).

    how to use brush tool

You can't work with Photoshop images in Illustrator like that. The tools in Illustrator work over vector images, not bitmaps (which are the ones produced in Photoshop). I suggest that you take a look at some older posts in this forum for learning about the differences between these two programs...

PSP Pro X2 - How do you Install Vector Graphics?

Which format are these graphics in? Are they specific for PSP (preset shapes, maybe?) or just some generic files?

    Use eyedropper in gradient box

You can also just drag-and-drop swatches onto the gradient slider.

AI shutting down when I save files

CS3 still had issues with the preferences becoming corrupt, so a possible workaround would be to reset the preferences. The file is called AIPrefs and is located under 'Documents and Settings/User/Application Data/Adobe/Adobe Illustrator CS3 Settings'. It is a hidden file. Delete it with...

    Top Menu Bar

From what I recall from AI 10 you would find those options under the tool flyout: click and hold over a tool in order to display the flyout; click on the button to the far right to make it permanently visible. If that's it, once you have it visible, place it where you want it and save this...

PSPPhotoX2ultimate .. linking My PSP plugins folder

Corel sure has a sense of humor... Will adding a new location to other tools work (any path will do for testing purposes)? If the OK button doesn't work for other tools either, it could be an installation issue as far as I can tell.

My pen tool shows up as an X instead of an Icon?

Uncheck "use precise cursors" under the general preferences (edit - preferences - general).

One area color and the rest black & white (or sepia!)

Here's one tutorial for that: http://teom.coningham.net/psp-x/greyscale-and-color

    PSP X2.

Oh, I guess I didn't elaborate much on that one! When I say print jobs I mean professional printing, large-format posters, banners, outdoors, some processes that require color separations, etc. Photoshop's focus is on professional users (i.e. graphic designers). While PSP is aimed towards home...

    PSP X2.

Unfortunately there aren't enough tutorials on photomanipulation for PSP. For some reason we haven't gone that deep yet (I'm working on a new tutorial site and intend to put stuff like that up, but there's no release date). What you can do in order to learn PSP is simply try out tutorials that...

I am trying to find Illustrator CS1 trial dwnload

Btw, if you can't find the trial on Adobe's site, you probably won't find it anywhere else unless you try torrents and such. Download sites usually link to the program in the developer's servers, not on their own.

I am trying to find Illustrator CS1 trial dwnload

CS1 is closer to 10 than to CS3. However, as long as you don't use effects or the live features (or use them but expand after use) when sending the file to the customer, there should be no issues.

    Ellipse Tool Question-PLEASE HELP

You can use the Transform palette to enter new values for the Ellipse. I also like using the Convert to Shape effect, as it lets you preview the new size.

    Duplicate Items Detected

Which version are you using? You'll probably have to reset the registry but depending on the version the process is a bit different (you can search the forum for the procedures, because those have been posted several times). Another thing you can do is delete PSP's cache files (you'll find them...
