The name does not need to be made public. This is just a CERT. Certs are tied to a name not an IP address. You can not have a cert issued to www.externalsite.com and have that certificate issued to a user accessing that system with access.internalsite.com.

What version of the ICA client are you using? The 7.1 client had some issues that were fixed in 8.0. You may want to try a older client or the new client.
I am assuming (you were not clear in your message) you are running win2k sp4 with citrix xp fr 3.

It all depends on the Clients perspective. What you may want to do is suggest the citrix solution as an interum step while the new application is written. Citrix is not that expensive. for 20user xpa your looking @ ~$5k-8k.
