I did actually try holding down the shift key afer clicking ok on the password prompt, but did not get much joy. In the end I just gave up and went back to what I had done the day before. It took me half a day to get it back to "finished" state but...

Thanks for that. I think part of the problem is that I also have the database in a user group so it forces a password to be entered --> I can't hold down the shift key all the time...

OK, It has been years since I've done anything in Access and I had completely forgotten about the dangers associated with this....
Basically I have created an application which I was finally happy with. Being a complete idiot, I went straight into the startup options and turned off all menus...
I'm a rank amature (so ignore what I say) but if you have any blank (Null) fields, access will not return them with wild cards (*, % et al). I've been working through this exact same problem today. Don't know if that helps at all.
