Thanks 'linney', I had the same thought myself earlier today as i was fed up with the amount of time i was spending on this 'annoyance'. I downloaded a small utility called 'CapsLock Taskbar Lite 1.2'. this solved the problem immediately and I have decided to stay with it. why this works and...
Thought I should give an update to my problem,as follows.
It would appear that others have a similar problem and yet others have no problem at all. I can get it to work but not easily. If I put a tick in the 'turn on Toggle Keys' and save and exit it does not work but if I also tick
'Turn on by...
Sorry, false dawn. I thought I had cured the problem as I described but after re-booting the problem has returned and I cannot get the fix back again. It was tied up with the Numbers lock key as well and it does not beep either.
As a head-down typist I rely on the beep sound whenever the 'capslock' key is hit accidentally. Having installed Windows 7 quite recently I tried to set this 'alarm' up but I cannot hear any beep sound. I have checked and double checked the appropriate settings in the keyboard options of the...
Have finally managed to get GPedit running from the command prompt. Here is what I did.
1.) Make sure that the file 'framedyn.dll' is present in the Windows\System32\Web folder. I actually replaced it with a fresh copy from the 'DilCache' folder, then carry out the instructions from this...
Yes, I log on as 'Administrator'. The problem is still with me and i have spent hours trying to get an answer. The Microsoft KB is just hopeless and never comes up with the right search results. Someone at Microsoft must know the solution to this problem. I have un-installed .NetFramework...
Group Policy Editor is not something i am engaged with very often so hard to say how old the problem is. I have read that .Net Framework v3.0 can cause this problem. thanks for all the attenton and help and if all else fails i will download the 'fix' you mentioned or i might try un-installing...
Thanks but I had already tried this but did so again and got the same result MMC opens ok but when I try to load the GP snapin I get the message "MMC cannot initialize the snapin- Name Group Policy Object Editor
Tried to access Group Policy Editor from the 'run' box with the 'gpedit.exe' command but got the error message "MMC could not create the snap-in."
Have searched in vain for a solution.
My original posting seems to be getting hijacked by the pro/anti 'Raid' set-up arguement. I will not be using this.
I thank everyone for their contributions and I have made up my mind to stay with my original specification. I will be buying the best processor I can i.e., Intel E6750.
Thanks for the advice, my budget is not too limited, it is just me thinking that I was going for 'overkill'. My case costs about the same as yours and I will be adding my existing Hard Drive which is another 160Gb. I have also got an external drive = 80Gb.
The motherboard supports DDR2 ram...
I am about to build a PC for the first time and have chosen the following spec.

Just letting you know that worked. I downloaded the update manually from the web-site and it installed without problem. I wonder why they offer an automatic update service and it does not work?. I have the same problem with Nero so maybe I should have remembered that.
Many thanks again for the help.
