Managed to fix it. There was 2 different monitors set up in the display settings. Changed to the other setting and untick "extend the windows desktop" box and, law and behold, it reappeared!

Managed to get it working. It was the fact that two monitors were set up in the display settings, changed to the other monitor and unticked "extended my windows desktop and this monitor" and law and behold, the start menu appeared!

I have a laptop with Win98 SE on. When it boots up, everything is fine (i.e. desktop, etc) except that there is no taskbar/start menu. Its not hidden anywhere on the screen.
I've ran Norton Utils, several virus fixes, and even reinstalled Win98 SE over the top again, but still no...
The Winsock fix worked, strange thing was that everytime I made changes to the network properties on the broadband connection (including the network setup wizard), it corrupted it so I had to run it everytime.
