Well, all the prior updates installed successfully but the service pack still errors out with the same error. Here is part of the svcpack.log:

I'm installing the prior updates now (this is a new system). The thing is when I turned on automatic updates the next day SP1 was waiting for me so that's why I tried to install it. When I went to windows update I selected all the high priority updates. We shall see what happens.
Thanks
No it doesn't show up in add/remove. This has me baffled. I haven't been able to find anything on google either. I'm contiplating just wiping it and stating fresh.
I get an error about half way through installing service pack 1. The error is "An error in updating your system has occurred. Select OK to undo the changes". After undoing the changes I get "Service pack 1 installation did not complete. Windows server 2003 has been partially updated and may not...
The old systen was a NT 4 PDC. Authentication was it's primary role along with file sharing for users. The name of this old server is not in Wins or DNS on our 2003 servers (which replaced our 2000 servers which replaced our NT 4 servers, physically). I have also checked every win98 computers...
Ok, I did a find in the registry for that server and only 3 had it in the reg. Two had this [HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Applets\Paint\Recent File List]
"File1"="\\\\SPLSERVER1\\OPACs\\SPLOPAC.bmp"
and one had this...
We have about 150 computers and 20 or so are windows 98. The rest are 2000 or XP with 2 2003 MS servers running AD, WINS, DHCP and DNS. Using Ethereal the other day I noticed a ton of NBNS Name Query's coming from all of the windows 98 machines looking for a server that has been gone for a long...
I have a Windows 2000 server with sp4 and a bunch of XP pro clients. It seems some group policies work and others don't with XP. "Prohibit access to properties of a LAN connection" is a must for these XP machines. I've enabled the policy and it doesn't work. They are in there own OU and I have...
Well, this system gets used pretty much 24/7 so it's hard to do much testing (shutting off library software) on this system. I guess I will try to run some of those commands when we get those errors. Also, we are going to replace and upgrade our RAM, just to rule that out.
Thanks for all your...
Everything (from what I can tell, not knowing much about unix) seems to look ok. I just hope we can at least limp along til we get our new server.
