Many newer motherboards will also let you designate a USB drive as a virtual floppy. Lame to have to work around it, but as noted above- Vista doesn't have this problem. It just has lots of other problems :)
Ahh, misspoke- they were toying with going to the 64 bit OS, but no longer. I'd love to follow that KB article. Unfortunately the folks involved here haven't got a second server to stand up so we're going to have to approach this from a disaster-recovery point-of-view.
At least that simplifies...
We are looking at rebuilding our Exchange 2003 server due to performance issues. Detais are-
Exchange Server 2003 Enterprise
Server 2003 Standard
Backups are reliable and verified
I've been reading up on this and my question is can I rebuild the server with Server 2003 Enterprise and still be...

I'm not a DBA. That said, here we go-
I have SQL2000 running on a Win2K Advanced Cluster, two nodes, one is active, the other idle awaiting failover.
I need to install SQL SP3 on the cluster and I have looked over the KB articles related to it; however, some of it is greek to me. Here is...
More details, please- is there unallocated space on the disk that the partition can expand to using a utility such as Partition Magic? Can you replace the drive and either ghost over your install or restore from backup? Or use the drive's install utility to move your installation to the new disk?
This may be a mission for Regedt32- I ran in to a similar problem with CD burning software. Open Regedt32 go to HKLM\Software and select one of the problematic programs, then open the security/permissions menu and give the USERS group full access to the software.
I would try this on one...
I am somewhat surprised that Compaq's tools do not allow you to add a drive to an existing array (I'm assuming this is a hardware array since you mentioned the 5300). Have you installed the array manager from Compaq?
If you go to dynamic disks for disk1 I do believe Odissey's idea will work; however, if you want to stay with basic disks then Norton Ghost is the way to go.
One issue that no one here has mentioned: from a legal standpoint, unless you have hard evidence that this user is violating your policies auditing only his/her usage will avail you very little. We ran in to a similar issue about a year ago and I pushed to monitor ALL usage. This didn't sit...
Generally when introducing a Win2000 server to an NT domain as a DC you have to do it as an upgrade to the existing PDC. Win2K WILL act as a PDC for an NT 4.0 domain (It will default to mixed-mode operation), but the only way to do it is to follow the upgrade path- once you upgrade the PDC to...
This turned out to be a no-brainer- copying the HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\shares key and importing it to the new file server handled it quite nicely. I KNOW I used to know that...
