    Consider configuring the ports as a port group and enable trunking if you have multiple vlans.

    I would consider looking at spanning on an aggregation point. Do you have these two switches connected together? Do they share a common vlan (ie vlan1) which contains the traffic you're intersted in? You can span 1 or more vlans but could get pretty busy for your network management station...

    have you configured portfast on the switch port? If you show logging on the 6509 does it show the port throwing off any errors? Are there any other errors occuring on the port interface, such as drops?
