I have 10 Dell Dimension 3100 workstations to deploy in the next week. The first thing I need to do is to clear off the unwanted partitions on the hard drive (don't know why Dell shipped them that way) and upgrade them all from XP Home to XP Pro (we have an open license for XP Pro, and it was...
There was a SMTP communication problem with the recipient's email server. Please contact your system administrator.

I agree, however, it is curious one other e-mail accounts at our same IP can get through and that all...
Well, frankly, I don't know that it is being "blocked". It is a guess on my part, considering that 1) all e-mails I send to her, no matter what account I use, come back with the same error, and 2) a co-worker is able to get mail through successfully, but only when she replies to an e-mail that...
We have a Board member who is using Outlook Express to receive e-mails at home. The only way we have been able to successfully send her an e-mail is to reply to one from her -- e-mails that originate straight from us are blocked. I have tried our corporate e-mail system, my personal Yahoo...
We have puchased a new server and set up Server 2003 and Exchange 2003. We were previously using CA's InoculateIT for AV protection, which worked well. With the new server, we need to either upgrade to a newer version of CA or move to something else. We are currently doing a test run of...
We just migrated from Exchange 5.5 to 2003, along with moving to a new Server 2003 mail server, installing OWA, etc. All seemed to go well, except for those accounts which had only internal e-mail under 5.5. The accounts came over, but they will not resolve when trying to install their...
Wow, you're generous! I make people clean out their old stuff after 250MB....99% of the time it's either people don't realize they have to clean out their "Deleted Items" folder after deleting messages, or they just never bother and end up with 100 old messages along the lines of "cake in the...
No matter what we end up with, it will have an internal tape drive for backup - we already use CA Brightstore with a 20/40GB internal tape drive on another server -- we would get a larger capacity drive, obviously. We also use CA's InoculateIT for antivirus, and it has worked extremely well. CA...
Zelandakh -- Thanks -- any thoughts on how much the additional drives should add to the price? We are a not-for-profit and are paying for this box with a grant, so our budget for it, a pro to set it up and the anti-spam is capped at around $5K. Will the main difference in the additional drives...
Thanks to all who replied. We are getting a quote on a Dual 3.0 Xeon, 2GB Ram with three 146GB SCSI HD, RAID 5. Definitely will look into GFI for the anti-spam - that was top on my list already.
We will soon be purchasing a new server to host our Exchange servers, moving up from Exchange 5.5 to 2003 at the same time. What are some good more-than-minimum specs I should go for in a server that will be dedicated to Exchange and our DNS controller? And what is an effective spam filtering...
Longhair - No big messages moving through that I can see, in fact, one of the boxes has very little in it. I did uninstall the anti-spam on this machine, seemed to make no difference -- We use CA's antivirus, not Symentec, so not an issue there. All connections go through the same router, but we...
Longhair -- I did a full reboot on Monday when everyone was out, and then warm booted this morning. I was thinking of doing a full reboot again at lunch today.
