    If there is a way to automatically backup a sqlbase ,it should be through SQL Console.

    I assume this is SQLBase You can manually backup using the BACKUP command that SQLBase supports (see manual/help) or You can set it up in SQL Console.

    How to limit query results to only 1 row

    In SQL Windows the Report gets the lines based on the Fetch Next and Return TRUE. If you want only record, you can use a boolean variable to set once result is fetched, so it does not fetch more than one time.

    How about editing sql.ini in a notepad instead , once you save it via Notepad, try the ini editor the second time and check if it works.
