    Check Speed Of VPN

Best way is to transfer a file (with a known size) across it and time how long it takes. Then do the math to get to kilobits/second. Of course, it will still only be a ballpark number since the VPN will be affected by internet congestion, number of users, time of day, etc. hope this helps.

    Home Networking problem

I will assume (which is dangerous) that with the ADSL router you will be using NAT to 'mask' the PCs from the internet (i.e. only one IP (PC) will be advertised on the web). That said, each PC will be plugged into an ethernet port on the router. Now, I believe you will have to eliminate anything...

    WRT54G, XP Home, IAS

I was under the impression you had to have XP Pro to participate in a domain security model. I don't know if you can do this with Home. I have some customers who use Home to connect to a Win2k Server but they are just doing simple file sharing and any network drives are mapped with batch files...

    Dynamic DNS on BEFSX41

Nope, problem with the DDNS client in the router. I loaded a demo client on a PC at that location and it updated. Guess I need to downgrade the firmware to get the DDNS working. All of my other "old" firmware routers work. go linksys

    Stable firmware for WRV54G

Got the problem fixed. Turns out it was a problem with the RV082 that the router was connecting to. But it is still slow to reboot and sometimes kicks you out of remote management.

    WRV54G (2.25.2) to RV082 (1.1.5) VPN

Update: I RMA'ed the RV082 and the new router worked like a champ (at least, a Linksys champ). Apparently something was wrong with the IPSec processor/software in the thing because Internet access always worked. go figure.

RV082 to WRV54G was working till FW upgrade

Update: Got the new RV082 from Linksys and hooked it up. Everything worked great. However, I had a consistent problem.. I set a tunnel up with no security just to see if it would connect, then started layering security after that. The move from DES to 3DES broke the VPN and I had to reboot the...

    WAN IP for Network Printer

I am guessing you want the Printer available from the Internet? You should be able to put the printer in a DMZ on the router and allow either network (local or public) to access it. ALso, what kind of printer is it? Does it have an internal NIC or external?

    WRV54G (2.25.2) to RV082 (1.1.5) VPN

That is a very interesting link. However, I haven't been having a problem with the thing hanging (at least not for just Internet access). I just can't get the *^%$ thing to create a VPN Tunnel. and support is no help at all. Time to buy a DLink?

    WRV54G (2.25.2) to RV082 (1.1.5) VPN

I had this VPN working. It went down for no apparent reason. Now I cannot get it to reconnect. I have been messing with this for 3 weeks. Linksys support is no help. I have thought about chucking the 54G and getting a BEFSX41 and a wireless access point. Or am I just banging my head against the...

Lost admin access on networked PC??

Problem 1: Have you tried logging on as Administrator w/a blank password? I don't think you can have a Win2k box w/o an administrator account. If you missed it somewhere in the setup, it may have been setup w/ a blank password. Just log off and try typing in Administrator and leaving the...

Switch; Console port broken & ip unknown

You could try a little program called NetworkView to 'scan' your network. It will pick up pretty much anything with an IP address. That should give you the IP address of the switch. From there you should be able to telnet to it. All of this is assuming you are on the same 'network' as the...

    Stable firmware for WRV54G

Great, just what I needed...more unstable hardware. Have you had any luck with a VPN between the WRV54G and any other Linksys router?

    High density T1 router

I used a 7206VXR with 3 or 4 (around there) 8 port cards and a few BRI cards. Thing routed like a champ. Only time I had trouble with it was when the power went out. Also used it for voice as well as data. All of this was for a local bank with multiple branches. I think now they even have a DS3...

usb VPN to ISP - W2k and XP to access web ?

What ISP is this? And what type of service is it? I have seen the USB connections on cable and DSL modems but never used them. I have yet to see a cable or DSL modem that cannot be plugged into a router via ethernet and shared amongst multiple PCs.
