Am ordering an SL500 library with 8 LTO4 drives.
Will be configured in a brand new Netbackup 6.5 environment.
Anything you all would suggest prior to receiving / setting library up?
Question:
Did you open up the 'Client Attributes' dialog in the Master Server Properties in your admin console?
I have always had to add a DMZ client in this dialog box and specify for it to use VNETD in the 'BPCD connect back' box
I'm sure you already did this. Just wanted to make sure it...
I have a library with 4 x AIT4 drives and 2 x AIT5 drives.
Although I use all AIT4 recording media (AIT5 reads and writes AIT4 media), the cleaning tapes are NOT compatible with one another. In other wirds, I cannot use an AIT4 cleaning tape in an AIT5 drive and vise versa.
All of the drives...
Hi,
Similar to what Vaxinated stated. We have several unix clusters (Sun / VCS) running Oracle in Active / Standby configuration.
We have the one policy that backs up ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES on each node in the cluster, and has an exclude list which causes netbackup to skip the shared / clustered...
Doesn't a manual backup also reset the 'backup window' on frequency based scheduling?
Had you run any manual backups since the last backup (but before the next backup window)?
Is the tape in the library? Has it been 'inventoried' to see if the tape exists?
run the vmoprcmd command and see if there is a pending request action shown at the top of the report...or look at the device monitor in the admin console.
Is there a tape drive 'DOWN'? Perhaps there isn't a...
Glad I could help, and thank you for the star! :)
I'm not sure if windows master servers support the 'vmoprcmd' command (dos prompt), but that would have basically showed you the same thing.
Go to the Device Monitor in the admin console.
You should see the pending tape mount request.
Right click on the pending request and click on the 'resubmit'
All,
I used to backup my NAS shares (CIFS) as mapped drives on a windows 2000 advanced server (client).
The admin of that server recently upgraded that server to a Windows 2003 Server SP2 and Netbackup no longer recognizes the mapped drives.
Instead, I have had to start using UNC Paths.
I...
It's been my experience that the only place an NDMP backup can be restored is to a NDMP host.
I wish that wasn't the case....and if I am mistaken, I would also love to know how to do this.
Good luck!
Hi all,
Not sure if this is a unique situation, or not.
I need to do a NAS share restore (backed up on a Windows 2003 server using UNC path) onto a different NAS share mounted (using SHARITY) on a Unix (Solaris 10) box.
For example:
backup occurs on Windows 2003 client (nasbkp1) and backs up...
We have the Oracle Agent for Netbackup, but do not use it.
My DBAs prefer to take their RMAN backups to disk on the server. Then I pick those files up and write them to backup disk / tape.
That way, if they need to restore their databases quickly, they do not have to rely on me to recover the...
