Hey Guys.. Need some help setting up a couple of VLAN's on a Nortel 420 Switch. I basically want to segment the right side of the switch to be the public side of our network and the left side to be the private. We have a Cisco router that connects to the internet with a WIC and then on ent0/0...
Right Click Properties on your Users share on the file server and check the Share Permissions and the NTFS permissions. That would be the first place to start... There has to be some variable that connects the share/folder to the users that are getting access.

OK... if you are hitting the server from your backup server with the UNC (\\servername\c$) and are getting prompted for a user ID and password when you hit that share, the account you are logged in as does not have admin privileges on the server you are trying to backup.... as a standard...
Are you setup in a multi site environment? If so, the bigest tool with GPO application deployment is patience. The GPO has to replicate to all DC's before it will allow you to install. On that note, if you are in a single site environment, be sure you have DNS setup properly otherwise the FRS...
Is the Terminal Server the same server that houses the home directories? If so, check to be sure that you dont have the Everyone group set on NTFS permissions as they are different from share permissions. Good Luck!

Verify that DNS is setup properly on your new DC. If it is not, the FRS (File replication services) will not work properly and will prevent your DC from actually being a DC. If it is the second DC it's primary DNS needs to be pointed at the First DC, secondary points to itself. Good Luck...

OK... In your original post you said you were dinking with hosts files... if you are running a windows 2000 domain with DNS and all XP machines, you shouldn’t be using host files. That could be your problem. Also, just because you can ping the server by name, does not mean that DNS is working...
