I feel really silly. Turns out I had a vertical line that was interfering with the formatting. turns out the =IIf([State]="Michigan","",[State]) or the =IIf([State]="Michigan",Null,[MyDataSource]) work just as well. As long as the "Can Shrink" property...- hnoon
