Yes, it was a new problem. We figured out that the person had zone alarm pro on the pc and configured it to the point that they couldn't even get online. Some people just don't get it. Thanks for helping. Motto of this story is to check for zone alarm configurations first, if someone can't...

Thanks for your input. The pc will boot up and run fine. It just will not re-boot after installing for example, windows updates. Windows wants you to re-boot your pc, I tell it yes to re-boot. It shows it is shutting down and turns black, and doesn't come back on.

Hello, I have a Win98 pc and I believe I was downloading Win98 updates. After a critical update, the pc would no longer reboot. It says it is shutting down and the screen turns black. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks for you help!

I have a couple of computers with the same optical mouse. One is plugged in the USB port and the other using PS/2 port. I do not see a difference. Seems you can go either way unless you have more USB devices than you do USB ports.

I also recommend the Altec Lansing speakers. I use the ACS-33 and think they are great! Cheap too! Good luck!

I am running a MSI K7T turbo limited motherboard and AMD 1.4 gig CPU, win98. My system locks up after running a couple of minutes. I have replaced the ram, and video card. I have reinstalled all drivers and it still locks up. I have 256 meg of PC133 ram. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Well it seems to happen to me also. I think that is is the software drivers. I have tried numerous times to download the drivers and cahnge them.... But no workiepoo I believe thast it is a problem with the earlier boards, the newer ones do not appear to have the problem. I use thoise...
