Removed all USB components from the Device list and redetected and installed them. It then worked.

Did you upgrade your video driver from the manufacturer when you upgraded to XP? I would think this would be a video problem and would see if the drivers are the problem. My 2 cents.

Windows XP does not autodetect or even acknowledge that anything is in any of the USB ports. But according to the settings in the BIOS and the System Device Manager, everything is turned on and working correctly. USB power is on because I can plug a USB light in and it works. A USB device...

Dell laptop came with Norton (Symantec) Security Suite installed. Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox worked fine. Suite subscription expired after the year I originally paid for and I choose not to renew. I uninstalled ALL Norton components from the laptop. Did not have it turn the Windows...

Problem solved. Turned out to be the firewall. Had to uninstall and reinstall. Works now. Thanks for all suggestions.

exceeeduus75; Acrobat reader does not read dat files which this is. This file has somehow been converted/corrupted as noted above. etjric; I checked that but it only applies to files that are created by Outlook named winmail.dat. Thanks. Anyone else run into this???
