    Upgrading to new computer

I buy a new box every 3 years, and the new one just arrived. Now I've got to move everything (or most of it) from the old computer to the new one. I seem to have 3 choices, and would like your opinion as to the best way to proceed: 1> Manually reinstall everything. As if. Oh, yes, this is...

    Export text from InDesign CS

I know that's how it should work, but these are my only choices: Adobe InDesign Tagged Text Adobe pdf eps InDesign Interchange JPEG XML Frustrating. I guess I'm about ready for a re-install.

    Export text from InDesign CS

Righto. Sorry for the confusion. Selecting with the text tool was my first choice, and it only allows me to export as Tagged Text.

    Export text from InDesign CS

No go. The black and the white arrows just give me pdf, eps, and some other stuff I don't want for this purpose.

    Export text from InDesign CS

I would like to export text from InDesign, but the only option for this I get is Adobe InDesign Tagged Text. Apparently .txt (ascii text) and .rtf (rich text format) are controlled by the Sangam Service Mapper plug in, and the Sangam Text Writer plugins. I have all of these installed, but ID...

    Quark 4 GUI error

You got that right, Mr Picklefish.

    Quark 4 GUI error

Ha! Hardly. I'm hoping to never buy Quark 6. I'm sure swapping monitors is no solution. Every other two-monitor-capable program I own works perfectly, including all of my Adobe apps and MS Flight Simulator.

    PageMaker, Quark, or InDesign??

After 16(!) years of working with every version of PageMaker, I'm doing more and more in InDesign. It's the only way to go. If you have any experience with PageMaker you'll love InDesign and hate Quark, I bet.

    Quark 4 GUI error

I occasionally use Quark 4.11 (Reluctantly. InDesign rules.) with Windows XP on a two-monitor system. Although Quark allows me to move my palettes to the second monitor, they all are grouped back on the primary monitor when I restart Quark. I realize there is no hope for a fix to this in Q4...

    CD-RW DVD-rom conflict

Thanks guys. The PCI IDE card did the trick. Luckily I had one slot left!!

    CD-RW DVD-rom conflict

My Micron P4 came configured with a hard drive (master) and CD-RW (slave) connected to one IDE port, and a DVD-rom connected to the other IDE port. I have installed a second hard drive, and reconfigured the connections as IDE1: hard drive 0 (master) and hard drive 1 (slave); and IDE2: CD-RW...

    Hijacked computer?

I run Norton AV in the background at all times, including incoming email scans, and just recently learned how to setup the firewalls. Also, I've just downloaded Spybot and am going to give that a try.

    Hijacked computer?

I suspect my computer may have been hijacked for use as a "ghost server," since I am getting notices of undeliverable email to addresses like eowjdjq@whatever.com. Emails that I never sent, of course. I use Ad-aware to periodically purge lurking advertising programs, but what should...

    Disable Scanner and Camera Wizard

I foolishly enabled the scanner and camera wizard for a CD I inserted. Of course, now it comes up for each and every CD. How can I defeat this (and other) wizards?

    Flicker in Media Player 9

When I run videos in WMP9 with "full" acceleration, the image flickers like some kind of old-time movie from the 20s. If I reduce the acceleration to "medium", the vids play fine. But of course, I want full acceleration. It can't be an underpowered system: I've got a 3 GHz...
