If no screen saver is selected, the system will not lock; however, you can set the system to enter a "Standby" state after a desired amount of time and have it password protected when coming out of "Standby".
I have used ARCserve 2000, BrightStor v.9, and Veritas Backup Exec. Of the three, I definitely prefer Backup Exec. It is layed out in a way that is more logical than the others and, honestly, has never given me any grief. I always find myself trying to solve problems with the other two, but I...
I think you are running into an issue with Incremental backups. Incremental backups only backup files that change from day to day. After they are backed up, the archive bit is reset. In order to restore a file, you would have to know when the file was last modified. Unless duration of backup is...
It could be possible that the second tape is bad, ie. the media is UNREADABLE. Try doing a test backup to the second tape to verify media is able to be written to it.
Are you trying to cross domains? I found in the past, with an older version of Backup Exec that it works better to manually enter the UNC path to the computer, if that is the case.
The best way to do this is to setup a batchfile called erase.bat that looks similar to this.

ca_auth.exe -user chgpasswd caroot
You will be prompted to enter the old password. I entered the password that worked up until last night and it accepted it. Then you will be prompted to enter the new password.
Everything...

I ran into this problem quite a few months back. When I examined the mailboxes in question, I noticed that the ones that weren't being backed up all had something in common - they are all either deleted accounts within Windows AD or they all belong to a group called "Disabled...
Actually, I solved my own issue. I created a batchfile called "eject.bat". Using the tapetest command, my batchfile looks like this:
-----------------------------------------
tapetest -eject < commands.txt

where commands.txt looks like this...
Is there any way to change this? My backups show failed just about every night but it is due to it not backing up certain mailboxes. These mailboxes have been disabled, so it is not a problem for them to not be backed up. If the cause of the tapes not ejecting is because of the failed state, I...
I also ran into this problem. When I ran the command to reset the password, it times out. Here is what I get ...
